leon21
More info on this photo. Have found a 2nd print of this photo at Princeton University Library New Jersey U S A, It was a gift from Dr Paul Van Dyke ( 1859-1933 ) class of 1881 and pro- fesser of Modern European History. He also donated a album of photographs taken by Lt. Edward C. Olds, class of 1909, during World War 1. I have now managed to date the photo from the Albatros D.Vs tail number (2059) this was the plane used to record his 58th and 59th kills on the 16th and 26th of August 1917. from the 1st September he started using the three-winged Fokker D.R 1 tail number ( 102 ). D.V ( 2059 ) used only from 25th July to end of August. The photo was taken at ( Jagdgeschwader 1) Airfield which became known as Richtofens Flying Circus, its name coming both from the unit's mobility (including, where appropriate, the use of tents, trains and caravans) and its brightly coloured aircraft. The occasion was the presentation of medals from von Hindenburg.
leon21
Have now finished research on the photo posted earlier. Richtofen had been given command of the new wing in June, composed of Jastas 4, 6,10 and his own 11 squadron. Have found a few more photos taken same day. Pic 1.......General Erich von Ludendorf shaking hands with Manfreds younger brother Lother. Pic 2....... of the airfield wider view. Pic 3....... Manfreds medals and orders. Pic 4....... presented with the first Fokker F.1 ( 102/17 ). end of August.
srsLOL
This is the copy I have that came off of Hitler's desk by my grandfather during WW2 in a bunker/personal office raid. I posted on Reddit. Mentioned by somebody in my post on Reddit: Richthofen was wounded on 6 July 1917. You can see his head bandaged in the photo.

Fritz
What was this photo doing on Hitler's desk? Who was responsable for raiding Hitler's office? Did he complain to the Foreign Office about this intrusion?
