  5. Hi, so a while ago I got a Brodie helmet from my grandfather and I was trying to get the markings identified. The inside leather is pretty crumbled and damaged from sitting in an apartment for a long time doing nothing but if anyone could help me out that would be great! The marking appears to read C2 but I could be wrong and there is a very very faded name in the last picture which I believe says something along the lines of F.C. Schilio thank you!

  8. Here is an interesting device, a multiple grenade launcher. This assembly uses 4 Lebel rifle assemblies linked together to create a portable battery that could be fired at once. The grenade used was the Mle. 1916 DR grenade, which was a rifle grenade, and came into service towards the end of 1916. The grenade itself had issues with the percussion fuse, which could cause premature detonation or undesired results upon impact, and was not popular with the rank and file, which is why I suspect they were used more in the battery role instead.

  10. I think everyone feels the same way, but unfortunately we are stuck with it, prices have really risen from the first day on. Everyone with any savings had only the half from the first day on. The Euro was thought to be a bridge over borders, but nobody is travelling now!

  13. Image of my Zeitzunderhandgranate, this is the type with the fuse in the rear area by the carrying hook. The other type has the fuse in the front, opposite the handle.

  14. French sniper team, the shooter has a periscope on the rear of the rifle, his spotter next to him has a longer one. Periscope type rifles were used by both sides during the conflict, although not very widespread.

  16. Just found while going through some old papers, these were the 1991 series, I think these were the last before the DM was withdrawn on 1. January 2001. They must have been with the papers since Summer 1997. Persons depicted: Bettina von Arnim Annette von Droste-Hülshoff Carl Friedrich Gauss

  28. Yup, could be then... this is all circumstantial but.... Wurttemburg Schwaben is an area in South West Bavaria incorporating the Black Forrest region. The Black Forrest does have a very strong wood carving history - cuckoo clocks are well know to come from the Black Forrest. Zermatt is a municipality in Switzerland - but Zermatt could have been a company name or the name or the carver or who knows. So circumstantial at best but local wood carving with the badge stuck on. If the badge is authentic and the attachment of it to the wood looks kosher it may just be "folk art".

  38. Got the Gold, Silver, and miniture bronze mothers crosses from a friend and fellow collector who sadly died last week. they were a gift to remember him by. Am I right in thinking that only the Gold mothers cross was issued in a case, and the Silver and Bronze classes were issued in paper packets.?

  41. I love the Mothers Cross set.It is by far my favourite Medal from the Third Reich.Did the picture come with the set, or was it added after? It would look really good ,IMHO ,if you could get a miniature version to go with it.
