Petz & Lorenz Infantry Assault Badges

Hi Guys,

Thought I would show my Petz & Lorenz examples. These examples can be a challenge to track down especially the cut-out swazy and the L/18 marked variants.

I attribute this to P&L having been officially forbidden in July 1941 from manufacturing and selling all military medals and badges due to poor quality. Most believe the EK1 core P&L produced started using zinc instead of iron.

My search for the L/18 marked P&L continues.

Hi. Here is a close combat clasp I bought a few years back. I'm dead sure it's a fake, but have seen these for sale on reputable retail on line shops as genuine. Research tells me the clasp & pin set up do not match the maker. Any thoughts. Cheers Wolf.

IAB box

Hi All

Has anyone ever come across an IAB box like this- I haven’t but I was wondering if anyone else has.

It has CW in pencil on the box but it contains an S&L (1.33.3) silver IAB. The IAB looks good to me but never seen a box like it.

Hi everyone,

I have acquired an Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen (ISA) medal. I have been told it should be real. The medal itself is not magnetic, and so far, I have read that it should be made of silver, meaning it makes sense that it is not magnetic. However, the 'needle' on the back is magnetic. Furthermore, there is no marking on the medal. What do you guys think, is it real?

Hi all

Ive been asked to comment on this bronze IAB. I’ve never seen this hardware on an IAB from SHuCo (particularly referring to the catch). However, every day is potentially a school day! It was sold a a late war variant.

Its 22.0g exactly, the badge is not magnetic but the hardware is.

I know it’s hard to tell from pictures, but opinions are welcomed.

Preview, here a small selection of military awards

Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen, maker mark "A" for Assmann, unissued example from storage.
Iron Cross 2. class, ring marked 3 or a worn 8 ? (Deumer or Hofstätter, Bonn) on very good modern replacement ribbon 30mm.
Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. class, grey metal/Kriegsmetall (Feinzink), ring marked with "4" for Steinhauer & Lück. On replacement original ribbon 26mm.
Eastern Front medal, ring unmarked, unissued example.
Silver Wound Badge, early example, brass with thick silvering, makers mark 30 for Hauptmünzamt Wien. Well worn.
Krim Shield on original slightly damaged cloth backing with backing plate, no makers marks, removed from uniform, some slight surface rust in places.

Various Wound Badges - Good or Bad ?

I'm looking at purchasing one or two of the below wound badges, they seem real and authentic to me, but if anyone can offer up an opinion, would be much appreciated!

I favour the gold one the most, but this looks to be in too much of a pristine condition to be a real award (I could be wrong).

Narvik Schild 1940

A Narvik Schild in silver, mounted on a bluegrey Luftwaffe cloth backing. The Narvik shield was awarded to all personnel, who took part in the battle for Narvik between 9th April and 10th June 1940. The shield was produced in silver finish for Heer and Luftwaffe, and in a gold finish for the Kriegsmarine, each with its own appropriate backing cloth. Shields were initially produced in pressed iron with a silver or gold finish, later in Zinc. The award for initatiated on 13th August 1940 by order of Hitler, and the first recipient was Generaloberst Dietl on 15.3.1941, the commander of the Gebirgstruppe. By mid 1941 most awards had been bestowed, in all:

The Narvik shield, as most others, is frequently copied. Caution is recommended with examples with too new paper backings. The original series had more of a type of felt behind the cloth backing.

Location of Makers Marking on 81 Black Wound Badge

Hello, I'm interested in buying another black wound badge and have been looking at multiple sites for some. I've found one that's got the makers mark on the pin itself and the marking is 81. I've also seen some badges that have the 81 marking on the backside of the helmet, so I'm just wondering whether or not it's normal for some manufacturers to put their marking on different locations on the badge. I also was wondering why the pin retainer seemed like it was shifter a little further down from the rim of the badge while most other examples I've seen have the pin retainer much closer to the rim.

*The first image is a close up of the pin with the mark on it. The second is another separate badge with the mark on the pin.

*The third image isn't of the one I was planning to purchase but is an example of one that's marked on the backside of the helmet.

As I’ve said before, HJ and party badges aren’t really my expertise so some opinions would help please. I’m not hopeful for these three badges for a variety of reasons but could those with a little more knowledge than me help please. Are they real or repro?
