sommewalker Posted May 9, 2015 Share Posted May 9, 2015 Moerbeke Station, site of the derailing of the train and the start of the 'Moerbeke Affair' where LT COMMANDER OSWALD HESKETHHANSON. Struggled with a German soldier after the train they were trying to escape in was ambushed, during the retreat from Antwerp,he tried to stop his men who some of which were trying to escape,from being shot , and paid dearly ,as on the 10th of October 1914 ,...he was placed in front of a German firing squad and "EXECUTED!"I was privileged to see /hold /photograph his card ,a very humbling experience indeed 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
