petejc21
Hi Over the weekend my father bought an old range finder from a boot fair. Paid £30 for it. He was looking to try and identify it, what it is exactly, where it was likely used, rough value etc. Ice attached the only picture I gave of it, I'll try and get some more detailed pics. Couldn't find any information plates attached. Just a few details stamped on the device and the box (box is it quite bad condition). "41ZDN 861041" "base 1mm enlarge 10x" He thinks the range finder itself isn't working as it may have a little damage to it. Thanks for any help! Kenny Andrew
Hi Pete, the problem with rangefinders is that they all look very similar, and it's hard to tell which country they come from unless they are stamped. Initially I thought it was German but these were always profusely stamped and if your one says "base 1mm enlarge 10x" then that would rule out German. My Guess would be WW2 U.S. although I don't know much about U.S. optics perhaps some of the others will recognize it, welcome to the forum anyway
Greg
not too sure Kenny... I know nothing about rangefinders but... US does not use mm very often for measurements and the paint colour doesn't look like a US colour palet but both of those are just assumptions
