( RAF news from Lincolnshires BBMF).

Although 7,377 Lancaster aircraft were produced between 1941 and 1946, only two remain airworthy one a ( Mark 1 nicknamed

"Thumper" ) is maintained by the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight ( BBMF ), and the other by Canadian Warplane

Heritage Museum ( CWHM ).

These two Iconic aircraft met for the first time as CWHM's "Vera" ( named for it's Identification markings V-RA ) a Mark X Lanc-

aster arrived in England recently after a 3,700 mile transatlantic flight from it's home in Ontario, stopping in Newfoundland and

Iceland on route to Lincolnshire's RAF Coningsby for the start of a tour which will see both Lancaster's flying together at 60

venues across the UK.

On another note, it is now confirmed that the "Vulcan" aircraft is to fly with the two Lancaster's on 21st August from RAF

Waddington Lincoln.

Here's a few photo's of "VERA" and one of "Thumper" and "VERA" together.post-3823-0-45352400-1407876874_thumb.jpgpost-3823-0-34794700-1407876904_thumb.jpgpost-3823-0-04030600-1407876943_thumb.jpgpost-3823-0-19801800-1407876968_thumb.jpgpost-3823-0-95425500-1407876996_thumb.jpgpost-3823-0-65500500-1407877018_thumb.jpg

I am at the first event they both are flying at together, in-fact it is 5 mins down the road from me. I also get free entry. :D

Had an RAF Tornado displaying over my house earlier.

A huge moment in history, and one I will never forget considering I named my forum user after a Squadron that flew Lancs.

Will post pictures on the day (this weekend).

Impressive decision to fly the Candian one over the Atlantic, I'd have thought it too much a risk for such a valuable aircraft. Shows the dedication of the crews to keep them in perfect flight condition!

Vulcan XH558, the Candian Lancaster and BBMF (minus their Lancaster) all plan to be at the Scottish Air Show at Prestwick start of September. http://www.scottishairshow.com/?page_id=131
