leon21 Posted September 15, 2014 Share Posted September 15, 2014 Here's a Replacement Soldbuch (copy ) opened on 3rd Feb 1943 for Gefreiten Erich Stange of Rgt Headquarters 1st pioneer platoon Fusilier Rgt 334 FP No 01320. Originaly Infantry Regiment 334 situated on 1st Dec 1939 as a Rgt of the 7th wave in Braunschweig area of replacement companys in WK.X1 and of 181 Inf Div. The Rgt was renamed in Dec 1942 as Fusilier Rgt 334, and continued the tradition of the Fusilier Rgt Field Marshal Prince Albrect of Prussia ( Hann ) No 73 of the old Army. In Apr 1940 the Rgt was sent to Norway as part of XX1 Group and helped to secure the area of Trondhiem, part of the Rgt was stationed in the area of Andalsnes in central Norway on ( Romsdalsfjorden ) as a occupation force which consisted of the follow- ing troops. At this point Erich Stange joined 1st/ Inf Rgt 334 ( Infantry Komp ) as a private on 2.9.1940. Front Line Troops. Staff Inf Rgt 334. 1/Inf Rgt 334 ( Infantry Komp ). 13/Inf Rgt 334 ( Kannone Komp ). 14/Inf Rgt 334 ( Anti-Tank Komp ). 111/Artillery Rgt 222. Garrison Pioneer bar 22. POW. Constuction Batt 41. Their job was to build Coastal Defences and Forifications. In 1942 the 1st Battalion was detached from the Rgt and assigned to Army Group Centre and used in Russia, iv'e not yet been able to locate which Rgt or Div they were attached, Erich Stange was premoted on 1.10.42. to Gefreiten and qualified for the Winter Medal on 28.12.42. What was left of the Battalion was rejoined to the Rgt in Feb 1943 were they were rested and Re-Equipped, this is when this Soldbuch was opened. In Sept 1943 the Rgt and 181st Div were sent to the Balkans and used initially in the area of Risan-Ledenice in the bay of Kotor Montenegro fighting Tito's partizan's. In 1944 they took part in Operation Rosselsprung ( Knights Move ) with 2nd Army's ( V.SS Mountain Corp's ) which consisted of the following troops. 7th SS.Div Prince Eugen. 118th Jager Div. 181st Inf Div. 369th ( Croation Inf Div ). 1st Mountain Div. There task was to totaly crush Tito's Partizan's , on 26th Oct 44 the Rgt Attacked Tito's stronghold at Grahovo and suffered heavey losses, on 18th Nov 44 the Rgt at Risan-Ledenice was almost crushed and the remnants of the Rgt were returned to Germany. Stange was premoted again on 1.4.44 to the rank of Obergefreiten and finished the war training a new Pioneer komp 31 at Scharnhorst Barracks in Hameln. 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
