Got this Arbeitsfront Mitgliedsbuch for a Friedrich Saalbach born 1891. Started paying her contributions in the 27th

contribution week 1936. The last contribution she made was 31-12-1944, just 2months before the Dresden Bombing

which killed so many as we know.................Can anyone make out the last stamp in the book she would be 53 by

then, would she have been to old to work by then.?

Careful with your assumption of Dresden and the bombing... the book is for the agricultural co-op in the region of Dresden. The ink stamp, last word is Grossenhain which is a town about 40 minutes outside of Dresden and not effected by the bombings. Grossenhain has a large air base at it (even today but unused) and lots of farming around it.

None taken, just pointing out the stamps stopping before the bombing indicate the individual actually completed agricultural work in the area and then probably moved on and not that they were caught up in the bombing. But as stated they were (considering the inability to easily travel from one city or town to another freely) no where near the actual city of Dresden at the time of the bombing.

Had they remained in Grossenhain after the last stamp in the book they would have seen the bombing but not been caught in it (again only showing there is no correlation to when the stamp dates stop).

That area of Saxony is gorgeous and also full of military history and well worth a visit if ever in the region.

What type of work would she have done, would she be like our land girls in Britain. I know she was born in

Grossenhain and had 2 or 4 children ?. Here's 3 more pages from the book.

Just discovered this topic. The book is for Friedrich Saalbach, Geschäftsführer, which is not a SHE, but a HE. Certainly not a land-girl.

A Geschäftsführer is something equivalent to a company director, etc. This person had 2 children, who were still non-adults (minderjährig, i.e., under 21)

Last (ink) stamp in book is - Landeswirtschaftliche Zentralgenossenschaft Dresden Ges.m.b.H., Zweigstelle Großenhain

being: Agricultural Central Association Dresden Ltd., Großenhain Branch

53 would not be too old to work, retirement was 65 years, and if he had his own business, he could carry on, and being a Geschäftsführer he could easily get a permit for travel if necessary, apart from that, he would most likely have been a party member to maintain his position.
