leon21 Posted March 13, 2016 Share Posted March 13, 2016 1/8th Battalion ( City of London ) Post Office Rifles in 140th ( 4th London ) Brigade part of 47th ( 2nd London ) Division. Sailed from Southampton to France Nov 1914 and after training saw action at the battle of Festubert in May 1915 then At Loos in Sept, At Vimy Ridge March1916, the Somme at High Wood Sept and at Ypres at hill 60 in Oct, then at Messines Ridge June 1917, the Third battle of Ypres Aug - Sept, then Arras Oct and Cambrai at Bourlon Woods in Nov. Transferred to 174th Brigade in 58th ( 2/1st London ) Division and absorbed the disbanded 2/8th battalion and renamed 8th Battalion on 2nd Feb 1918.
