leon21 Posted September 2, 2015 Share Posted September 2, 2015 The Army Catering Corps was formed in March 1941 to provide a central standard of training and administration for all army cooks. The 1st pattern badge was produced in May of the same year , an all-brass badge depicting a Greek Brazier within a crowned circle and bore the Corps title.it has loops on the back attached east to west. The 2nd pattern was issued in 1942 in chocolate-brown plastic as a economy measure which were made by F&G (Fraser & Glass ) or A. Stanley & Sons Walsall with blades on the back. The 3rd pattern was produced from 1951 - 1954 and had a Greek Brazier made of white metal on brass, this badge was made by Buttons Ltd of Birmingham who made badges only between 1947 - 1954 with the exception of a white metal Queens Crown Cap Badge for the London Irish Rifles made 1954 to 1965, After 1954 all ACC badges made by J.R. Gaunt of B/Ham or London up till 1993. The 4th pattern was issued in 1973 and a scroll was added with the words ( we sustain ). Pic.1/2 of 1st pattern. Pic. 3/4 of 2nd pattern.
