Greg
Great photos! The WWI German captured items are quite a nice little collection. I was at the Castle this time last year but no time to go into the Fusilier Museum, the Mrs' wanted to see the Garden and then we were off to Bamburgh. Great Castle full of neat things though!
leon21
Agreed well worth a visit the state rooms were excellent, kept to the ww1 period with the photo's, picked up an interesting little book called ( Over the Top Great Battles of the First World War ) by Martin Marix Evans. Bags of information very useful book to cross reference with others.
Greg
The sword collection in the State Rooms was impressive but sadly at very close inspection kept in terrible Conservation. Many handles missing or rotted, blades rusting.... It doesn't take much to preserve them properly and considering these places have tens of thousands of pounds in value hanging on the walls I'd wish they would do better!
