sommewalker Posted May 3, 2015 Share Posted May 3, 2015 It is with great pride ,And humility,That I can add the,Following medals,These being a complete set...(Trio) for Able SeamanTZ/808 William HayesCollingwood battalionR N D who fought at Gallipoli.Will signed on on the 29th of October 1914 landed at Gallipoli , 30th of May 1915.This is a special moment for me, as after 3 years of hard work and a lot of research ,I have finally managed to find a link to Gallipoli , the first real action the RND saw in ww1, Collingwood battalion was virtually wiped out. At Gallipoli and was subsequently disbandedOn the 9th of June 1915,Survivors were transferred to,Howe battalion ,As I get more time to scan and post more details I will,I have also put in a photo ofThe approximate positionOf his listed address at the time,No 41 St. John's streetPercy main ,Near Newcastle upon Tyne,I really am choked , to be able to add him to the souls remembered ,From the brave men from the RND ,welcome William . 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
