Prussian Customs Official or Gendarmarie

This buckle is a nice nickel over brass Prussian customs or Gendarmarie. I got this as I had never really seen a Prussian nickel buckle before

Judging by the picture, I would say this buckle is made of iron, nickel-plated, and originally had a gilt finish, which has worn off, except for the silvered centre medallion. You can test this with a magnet to see if it is iron. It would therefore most likely be an early wartime buckle (1914/16) made of substitute metals, due to shortage of brass, copper and nickel, being therefore a Prussian army buckl.e. Customs wouldn't be wearing army pattern equipment.
