Maker stamped M7/38 and RZM ,Unfortunatly Fastening strap appears to have shrunk with age and no longer fastens ,it would probably fasten with a stretch but we don't want to risk it.Leather softener would make it more supple then should close more easily. VGC

Trench fighting knife with Five and 3/4 inch non-fullered blade.With nicely grained, natural wood grips which are secured by three flat headed rivets.The grips have nine diagonally angled grooves to each side, for a better grip.Owners initials engraved to wooden handle GWT with State stamp to obverse of handle.The reverse of the sheet metal scabbard has a two riveted Leather belt loop. nice condition

We actually saw this exact same pattern of bayonet in a much poorer condition on a US site for $3000 and it was marked sold!As well as being used by British troops this bayonet was very widely used by both sides during the American Civil War. VGC
